► Renault reveals Bridger SUV concept
► Defender-ish looks, big interior space promised
► For international markets; launches in India in 2027
Renault is looking beyond Europe to expand. Its new Bridger concept is designed to preview a forthcoming new model that’ll launch in 2027 in India.
The Bridger concept is designed as a boxy, small SUV that’s under four metres long and comes with plenty of very traditional 4×4 cues in its design. It’s angular and clean, with a bluff black panel front end that houses the headlights and a backlit name signature, there are chunky 4×4 wheelarches and a side-hinged tailgate with a spare wheel attached.
Details beyond that are, er… scant. Renault says that the priority has been interior space, with smart packaging meaning the Bridger ‘sets new standards in its class’. The boot, for example, is 400 litres – bigger than a VW Golf – and rear knee room is measured at 200mm, something Renault claims is a record for this class of car.
Renault has developed the Bridger concept’s resulting production model that’ll launch in India in under two years. Under the boxy bodywork is a small Renault Group modular platform that allows for combustion, hybrid and battery-electric models.
All of this is part of a push Renault Group is undertaking to launch 12 new models between now and 2030. As well as venturing further into international markets like India, the brand has announced it will keep rolling out more E-Tech Hybrid models in Europe and beyond as well as undertake ‘a new offensive in the C and D segments,’ including with models like the new Dacia Striker.
After the production model based off the Bridger concept launches in India, we may see it enter new markets like established ones in Europe. Before then, we’ll have to hang on for more info.
