The grandson of Mario and son of Michael, Marco burst onto the IndyCar scene in 2006, earning Rookie of the Year honors and thrilling fans with a heartbreaker near-win at the Indianapolis 500, losing by less than a tenth of a second. His career saw two victories, 20 podiums, and six pole positions, with a career-best fifth in the championship standings in 2013.

Though he never quite scaled the Mount Olympus his family did, Marco built a reputation for grit and determination, racing in diverse arenas including sports cars and NASCAR, while remaining loyal to the Andretti Global team. His final Indy 500 start in 2025 marked the end of an era, with a respectful farewell from fans and peers.

“I am very much at peace with the next chapter in my life,” Andretti said, reflecting on the privilege of carrying his family’s racing legacy and the people who supported his journey.
