► New Kia EV5 GT revealed
► Sporty-ish electric SUV
► Comes with 301bhp

Kia’s rolling out its GT name across its range of electric cars, and now includes this one: the EV5 GT. It’s been revealed at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show along with spicier versions of the EV3 and EV4.

The EV5 is already effectively like an electric Sportage, centring itself in the market around a tonne of competition. The GT model is designed to be a sporty flagship, and gives the Kia something unique.

Here, the twin-motor setup develops a total of 301bhp, good for a 0-62mph time of 6.2 seconds. Reasonably sedate on paper, but it’ll be brisk enough for when you’re late for that parent teacher meeting. For reference, the EV5 GT develops 13bhp more than the EV3 and EV4 GT models.

It still runs on the E-GMP platform, uses an 81.4kWh battery pack and comes largely with the same design and tech as the regular EV5, but Kia says it benefits from bespoke chassis tuning and ‘semi-bucket’ sports seats.

Range figures aren’t confirmed yet, but Kia says there are both 11kW and 22kW AC charging available, while a 10 to 80 per cent charge is doable in around half an hour, meaning a speedy DC kW rate.

We’ll find out more closer to the car’s production launch in the summer of 2026.
