Porsche's New 911 Turbo S Engine Revealed! (Exclusive w/ Patrick Dempsey)

This powertrain integrates two electric turbos alongside an electric motor placed between the engine and the 8-speed PDK transmission, boosting both peak output and expanding the torque curve significantly to 800 Nm available from 2,300 to 6,000 rpm.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Turbo S gains 61 additional horsepower and achieves faster acceleration times with a 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in just 8.4 seconds, topping out at 322 km/h. The electric turbos reduce lag by spinning up to 145,000 rpm—faster than previous models—and eliminate the need for traditional wastegates by actively braking the turbine as needed, allowing precise boost control and energy regeneration.

The engine shares technology with the 911 Carrera GTS but is more advanced with twin e-turbos instead of one, redesigned intake and exhaust systems, and pistons optimized for a lower compression ratio to handle increased boost pressures. Porsche's innovative electrification also simplifies engine complexity by removing components like the belt-driven alternator and traditional starter motor and replaces them with electric systems.

Aerodynamics have been enhanced with active cooling flaps and an adjustable front splitter plus rear wing, reducing drag by 10% compared to the previous model. The chassis benefits from electro-hydraulically controlled Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (ehPDCC), improving agility and stability by reducing body roll in corners.

Emissions compliance is achieved by running the engine at the ideal air-fuel ratio (lambda = 1), maximizing catalytic converter efficiency while the electric turbo enables the use of larger turbochargers without the typical compromises in throttle response or heat management.

This new 911 Turbo S embodies the cutting edge of performance and technology, combining traditional internal combustion engineering with advanced electrification for superior power delivery, drivability, and efficiency. The vehicle also boasts a distinctive titanium exhaust system shedding weight and enhancing sound, carbon-fiber options for further weight savings, and a luxurious yet understated interior featuring digital displays with unique touches like an 80s-style boost gauge.
