Marc Marquez’ (Ducati Lenovo Team) decision to head into pitlane after his crash in the Sprint saw the #93 able to switch bikes, take back the lead and then win his second Sprint of the season. It was far from conventional, but the seven-time MotoGP champion was confirmed to have not breached any regulations.
Marquez entered the pit lane according to the published definition of crossing the Pit Lane Entry Timing Point, which is the entrance to pitlane where the 60km/h signs are displayed. There is no specific rule that says riders must enter pitlane from a specific place.

Marquez likewise didn’t disobey any marshal instructions, didn’t cause any danger when he crossed the track as he waited for it to be clear, and he did not shortcut significant portions of the track thereby gaining an advantage. Marquez’ Ducati Lenovo Team machine also remained running so he was able to rejoin the track on that bike.
