► Omoda 7 to launch as firm’s third model in UK
► Choice of petrol and plug-in hybrid
► Competitive sub-£30,000 pricing

The next piece of Chinese car firm Omoda’s jigsaw is nearly here with the new Omoda 7 confirmed to arrive in the UK in January 2026.

Set to compete in the highly competitive family SUV segment against the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, the Omoda 7 will arrive with a choice of petrol and hybrid power, as well as prices undercutting the opposition. Here’s what you need to know ahead of its arrival.

Omoda launched in the UK in August 2024, kicking things off with the Omoda 5 before launching the flagship Omoda 9 earlier in 2025. These models alone have propelled Omoda to a fantastic start, with its sales so far in 2025 already overtaking Lexus and soon to blast past Citroen.

While the firm recently unveiled the Omoda 4 in China, and we know an Omoda 2 is on the way, the Omoda 7 will be its third model to go on sale in Britain. Measuring 4.6m, it will be a larger car than plenty of cars in this class, such as the Tucson and Sportage, with its closest rival being the MG HS.

It adopts a different design language to Omoda’s other models so far, with a new face and lightning-inspired LEDs helping it to stand out. Inside, the interior is dominated by a large 15.6-inch toushcreen while also getting a new steering wheel design.

The Omoda 7 will deploy the same powertrain strategy as its sibling car, the Jaecoo 7, with a choice of a pure petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid referred to as a ‘super hybrid system’ (SHS).

The base petrol offering is a 145bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, but the more popular version will be the PHEV, which uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 201bhp. An 18.3kWh battery also gives it a claimed 56-mile electric range, which is longer than models such as the Ford Kuga and Kia Sportage but lags behind the 77-mile EV range of the Volkswagen Tiguan.

Keen pricing is keen to the Omoda 7’s appeal, with a £29,915 starting price undercutting most rivals, and the hybrid coming in at £32,000.

Two trims are available – Knight and Noble. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and wireless smartphone charging.

Noble trim adds a 12-speaker Sony sound system, electric, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and electric boot.

Omoda 7 orders will open in January 2026 with first deliveries expected shortly after.
