► Lexus concept originally in Monterey
► Twinned with GR supercar
► But uses electric power
Now it’s official, the Lexus Sports Concept has been renamed the Lexus LFA Concept. Revealed with an interior and exterior, the new concept shares a similar philosophy to the all-out GR supercar – but swaps out a hybrid V8 for a cutting-edge battery solution.
Like the GR car, the LFA Concept also focuses on three key elements: low centre of gravity, low weight and aerodynamic performance. There’s no V10 like the original LFA, but with Lexus’ new positioning as a brand known for innovation, a BEV supercar makes the most sense. It also makes sense given Lexus’ new positioning as a brand pushing for innovation.
Most of the car looks similar to the concept we saw at the 2025 Monterey Car Week and the Japan Mobility Show in the same year, but the new name comes with a glimpse of a new interior. It’s all very concept-based for now, but it’s possible to make out a yoke rather than a wheel, and a driver-focused layout – just like the GR car.
The LFA Concept uses the same all-aluminium body as the GR supercar but pairs it with a more flowing and sympathetic body. This car is designed for looks, as well as performance. Besides the cooling demands are very different due to its electric powertrain.
We also expect the new car to use Lexus and Toyota’s steer-by-wire tech, which has been tipped to form a key part of the driving experience for its performance cars.
It also promises to reach new levels performance, which the brand says will ‘inspire the dynamic driving characteristics of all future Lexus vehicles.
