Seiko is consistently rated among the best watch brands for collectors with modest budgets, but, good taste. I have a Prospex SRPC44 “golden turtle” myself, and have had my eye on a Speedtimer for a while now. Well, it might finally be time to pounce—you can get over $100 off list price on one of Seiko’s classy chronographs in a few different colors right now during Amazon’s Early Prime Days sale.
Chronographs (watches with the mini timing faces) are classic car-enthusiast accessories—you’ll always spot rich guys wearing Rolex Daytonas and Omega Speedmasters in the VIP boxes at Laguna Seca. These Seiko Prospex Speedtimers have the same basic look, but instead of costing something like $30,000, they’re about $600 with today’s discount. And the nice thing about Seiko is, it’s still a quality timepiece, so you don’t have to feel like a poser wearing one. I’m a big fan of the bold yellow-faced SSC947 model, but there are also white, black, and other colors on sale if you prefer a different look.
If you’re not quite sold on any of those, Amazon has a huge range of Seikos for sale on its store page.
