Leapmotor has revealed a new electric hatchback, the B05, as part of its growing line-up of EVs sold in the UK.

Unveiled at the Munich motor show, the B05 will become the fourth car sold by the Stellantis-imported Chinese car brand in the UK. It will look to rival cars such as the MG4 EV and Volkswagen ID.3 when it arrives in the second half of 2026.

Leapmotor launched in the UK earlier in 2025, and arrived – unusually for a Chinese car firm – with the backing of large automotive group Stellantis, with its Chinese models sold in the likes of Vauxhall and Citroen showrooms and with the backing of a big European car firm.

It launched with the C10 SUV and budget T03 city car – now the UK’s cheapest new car – and will be joined by the smaller B10 crossover later in 2025. The B05 will form the next piece of the puzzle as a C-segment hatch, principally arriving to tackle the MG4.

Measuring 4430mm, it’s quite a large car for its segment, and arrives with familiar Leapmotor styling cues such as a full-width LED rear light bar and a three-light signature at the front. Other distinguishing features include pillarless doors and standard-fit 19-inch alloy wheels.

While Leapmotor hasn’t confirmed specs for the B05, we know it’s based on the larger B10 crossover and will use the same ‘Leap 3.5’ platform. That means it should be available with an electric motor producing 215bhp and 177lb ft of torque, allowing for an 8.0-second 0-62mph time.

Two battery packs are available on the B05 with capacities of 56.2kWh and 67.1kWh, with claimed ranges of 224 and 270 miles, though it’s likely only the latter will be sold in the UK. With 168kW peak charging speeds, Leapmotor says a 30 to 80 per cent charge takes 20 minutes.

As with every other Leapmotor so far in the UK, it’s expected to only be sold in one well-specced trim level. Prices are yet to be announced, but we imagine it will likely come in at well under £30,000 depending on the grants Leapmotor offers when orders open in early 2026.
