Formula 1's sole practice session at the Miami Grand Prix has been extended from 60 to 90 minutes, with the FIA giving three reasons for doing so.

Firstly, the surprise calendar gap since the last race at Suzuka in late March, created by the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix.

It's also been extended so drivers and teams can get their heads around the suite of rule tweaks that have been agreed for implementation in Miami this week.

And finally, as Miami is a sprint weekend with one practice session before sprint qualifying, that makes practice time over the weekend even more limited.

New Miami schedule

Friday May 1

FP1: 12pm-1.30pm (5pm-6.30pm UK)
Sprint qualy: 4:30pm (9.30pm UK)

Saturday May 2

Sprint race: 12pm (5pm UK)
GP qualifying: 4pm (9pm UK)

Sunday May 3

Grand Prix: 4pm (9pm UK)
