A cutting-edge car needs a cutting-edge exterior design, right? That was apparently the thinking behind the Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Sedan. Compared to the Mirai, the edgy design of the 2018 Toyota Priuslooks downright subdued.

As strange as the Mirai’s exterior is, however, it drives like a normal car. The Mirai’s revolutionary powertrain uses a fuel cell stack to convert hydrogen to energy that powers the car and water vapor that is expelled through the car’s tailpipe. You can drive up to 312 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, though few fueling facilities exist.

The car is only available to select customers in specific areas of California.
