- An illegal firework recently exploded underneath a 4Runner in Hawaii.
- The entire incident was caught on camera and is a sight to behold.
- A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangering.
The Fourth of July was months ago, but a wayward firework is raising plenty of eyebrows for exploding underneath a Toyota 4Runner. The entire incident was caught on camera and police said it demonstrates the “uncontrollable” and “unsafe nature of illegal explosives.”
In the short clip recorded on October 16, we can see a man crouching in a front yard and lighting a firework. He then places it in a tube and backs away.
The firework shoots up and performs a series of loops, before hitting the ground and coming into contact with the 4Runner.

The man panics and rushes over in an apparent attempt to grab the firework. Luckily for him, it explodes before he can get his hands on it. He then checks out the damage, swears, and goes back into the house.
The Kaua‘i Police Department was called about the explosion and responded around 11:30 am local time. While the man reportedly fled, 24-year-old Bronze Robson was eventually arrested for Reckless Endangering in the Second Degree. That’s a misdemeanor and Robson was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
No one was injured in the incident and the extent of the damage to the 4Runner remains unclear. However, Assistant Chief Darren Rose said “This type of reckless behavior puts lives and property at risk.” He added, “Illegal fireworks have no place in our neighborhoods.”
