Top Gun's return from injury has come too soon, with the Spaniard opting to focus on his recovery

Maverick Viñales has unfortunately withdrawn from the Austrian GP. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider made his return to action this weekend after injuring his left shoulder at the Sachsenring, but the comeback has proven too soon for Top Gun.

Viñales dislocated his shoulder in a crash at the German GP, and subsequent medical checks revealed a fracture. After another setback on Friday, he attempted to compete in Q1 on Saturday morning but ultimately decided to end his Austrian GP early due to the severity of the pain.

Tech3 later took to social media to provide an update on Viñales: "Even if he tried to give it another go this morning, the pain in his left shoulder was too intense. Another medical check declared @maverick12official unfit for the remainder of the Austrian Grand Prix.
The recovery continues for Mav as we hope to see him again very soon."
