That is according to new data from Carwow, which has found that the Japanese carmaker was the most profitable brand for retailers over the closing months of 2025.

The figures show that Lexus vehicles offered dealers an average profit potential of £3,490 in Carwow auctions held between October and December.

It marked the sixth month in a row that the premium outfit featured in the top three and was enough to earn it top spot ahead of Land Rover, which offered an average profit potential of £3,364.

The most profitable list was dominated by higher-end carmakers with the likes of Audi, Volvo, Tesla and Mercedes also performing well.

Elsewhere, looking at the data on a model-by-model basis, the most profitable car for used dealers was the Audi Q5, which offered an average profit potential of £3,955.

The list is almost entirely made up of SUVs with the only exceptions being the BMW 1 Series, Tesla Model 3 and VW Golf.

Among the other models to feature in the top 10 were the Kia Sportage, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLB.

Reacting to the findings, Matt Cockerill, vice president performance & trading at Carwow, said: ‘Lexus has featured consistently in our list of most profitable brands since the third quarter of 2024, placing in the top three each time and reaching the top spot twice in 2025, underscoring its enduring appeal on the used market.

‘SUVs continue to dominate the top 10 models, which is consistent with the strong demand we’ve seen across the wider used market.

‘BEVs have reappeared in the list for the first time since the second quarter, a trend we anticipate will continue throughout 2026 as consumer demand and dealer confidence for used EVs converge.

‘With 20,000 vehicles available each month, our auctions demonstrate the diversity of stock available on the Carwow platform and the great deals available to our retail partners.’
