Formula 1 has revealed the six venues that will hold sprint races in 2026 - with discussions to increase the number and change the sprint format for 2027 taking place.
Alongside a potential increase in the number of sprints - to theoretically as high as 12 - for 2027, the prospect of changing the sprint weekend format is also on the table.
Among those potential format changes would be the introduction of a reverse grid element and the reduction in the quantity of non-competitive practice sessions.
But any potential changes are still in the discussion phase between F1, the FIA, teams and drivers and won’t be introduced for 2026.
This was a deliberate decision not to place an added burden on the teams, given the challenge presented by the new car and power unit regulations for 2026.
The six chosen venues for 2026 sprint races are China, Miami, Canada, Silverstone, Zandvoort and Singapore.

Zandvoort will hold a sprint race for the very first time during its final planned F1 weekend next August before it drops off the calendar.
Singapore and Canada are also hosting a sprint race for the first time, with China, Miami and Silverstone all having held a sprint weekend before.
