Tesla’s hotly anticipated Cybertruck made an appearance Sunday in Los Angeles with a Tesla luminary in tow, Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, giving reservation holders hope that production isn’t too far off.

Social media platforms lit up with videos and photos of Tesla’s electric pickup at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, where van Holzhausen hosted an event (via Teslarati) and showed off a potential pre-production candidate.

(See Peterson Automotive Museum announcement here.)

“The fit and finish of the vehicle was notably refined, and its interior looked fully built,” noted Teslarati.

Other features that could be seen include ventilated seats and indications that it comes with (not surprisingly) Tesla’s Hardware 4 (HW4) computer, Tesla’s most advanced self-driving technology. Cutouts for electrical outlets in the bed were also apparent.

And CEO Elon Musk replied to a tweet about the Cybertruck at the event saying that it will likely have a tighter turning radius than the Model Y (see bottom tweet).

Musk said in May that Tesla would “finally” begin production of Cybertruck later this year.

“We're likely to do probably a quarter million a year I think...maybe more...It might be 500,000. I don't know but we'll make as many as people want.”

Musk added that “[the] cybertruck is the car I will be driving on a day-to-day basis.”
