Details feel real enough
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled may be headed to PC and next-gen consoles soon in an updated package if the leak is accurate.
The “Grand Prix Edition,” as rumored, comes with fresh content, improved performance, and cross-play support that fans have long awaited.
It’s said to be in development under a smaller studio working within the Microsoft-Activision umbrella and not the original devs, Beenox.
Instead, Beenox supposedly handed off notes and internal files and withdrew from active development.
The port is allegedly targeting early 2026 and would land on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC, with a full physical and digital release priced at $40.
Many expect it to launch on Xbox Game Pass for PC, but its release on Steam remains uncertain.
The re-release is said to add a “reserve meter” mechanic, along with a couple of new characters and an original track meant to thank loyal fans.
The gameplay hasn’t changed much, yet minor features, such as item stacking (as spotted in a screenshot), have sparked debate about whether this is a straightforward port or a deeper update.
The leaked images show a new UI that looks cleaner but also sparked some concerns due to inconsistencies like uneven lighting, strangely sized character icons, and duplicate item visuals that didn’t exist in the original game.
Some fans immediately called it fake, while others said even if it is, these are exactly the kinds of changes they’d want to see. One user even said they’d take a fake like this over no port at all.
This leak arrived shortly after Crash Bandicoot’s official social accounts announced CTR Nitro-Fueled had sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
That’s a big achievement for a racing game that came out in 2019 and hasn’t had major updates since early 2020.
Despite no updates since that time, the servers stay live, and the community continues to be active, albeit smaller. That kind of legacy means Activision has a money-maker.
After Crash Team Rumble’s flop and Crash 5’s supposed shelving, a low-cost, high-impact port might be the best bet to keep fans on board.
So far, nothing is official because the deleted Reddit post originated from a throwaway account claiming to be part of the development team.
They also confessed to using a VPN, which doesn’t support their case for being legitimate.
But the information about Game Pass plans, next-gen focus, limited Beenox role, and pricing seems credible enough to generate real interest.
Until Activision speaks up, this could remain one of those “too convincing to ignore” rumors.
But given the timing and the state of the Crash franchise, it wouldn’t be surprising if this is the route they’re really taking.
