A popular model from Citroen has been urgently recalled over an unexpected brake pedal fault the company has pointed out in a new statement.
Citroen has warned drivers of its C3 range to stop driving their cars immediately after a fault has been discovered. It issued what's known as a 'stop-drive' recall, which acts as an urgent notice to call upon car owners to withhold from driving the vehicle due to a severe safety defect.

It's been uncovered that there is a common issue with the brake pedal box in their cars, affecting the entirety of the C3 range. The following models are included in the recall.
Citroen C3 (2025-present)
Citroen e-C3 (2024-present)
Citroen C3 Aircross (2025-present)
Citroen e-C3 Aircross (2025-present)
The owner of Citroen, Stellantis, confessed to Which? that roughly 1,100 of these cars have found their way into the hands of UK drivers. Those that own these models now have the option to accept a courtesy car as the brake pedal assembly is carefully checked and repaired.
A Stellantis spokesman said: "The safety of its customers is Stellantis' highest priority. During our regular quality process checks, an investigation revealed that certain right-hand-drive Citroen C3 and Citroen C3 Aircross could have a pedal box assembly that is not to the correct specification and is at risk of loss of brake capability.
"If this were to happen, the automatic emergency braking and the electronic parking brake would remain fully operational. We have initiated a stop-drive action to protect all customers of the 1,100 Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross affected."
Now customers are being urged to reach out to Citreon customer services or alternatively contact their local Citreon dealership if they have any concerns about their vehicle.
This news follows yet another 'stop drive' recall issued by Stellantis to drivers of Citroen models. The cars included were the C3 (2009-2019), DS3 (2009-2019), Citroen C4 (2010-2011), DS4 (2010-2011) and DS5 (2010-2013).
Adding fuel to the fire, it was only back in June that Citroen had made a recall for their C3 second-generation and DS 3 first-generation vehicles, specifically those made between 2009 and 2019, thanks to a risk of the airbag rupturing in a collision. It was thought that if the incident were to occur, it could result in injury or death.
At the time of the events, Head of Communications for Stellantis UK, Jeremy Townsend said: "Our focus is on completing the replacement of airbags in affected vehicles as swiftly as possible. Working hand in hand with our Citroen retailer network, we’re maximising the number of vehicles we can repair every day. To increase our repair capacity further, work is ongoing on introducing additional airbag replacement sites at convenient locations as well as repair-at-home options." Parkers reports.
