Cadillac has introduced a slew of fantastic electric vehicles, but consumers aren’t ready to give up the internal combustion engine. This has left the brand in an awkward spot, but they’re pivoting away from an all-electric future.
Earlier this year, Cadillac confirmed plans to offer a new XT5 in the United States. That was a big change as the model was originally expected to be replaced by the Lyriq.

Now, Global Cadillac Vice President John Roth has confirmed an all-new CT5. In a letter, he revealed the current CT4 will go out of production in June of 2026, while the CT5 will follow later that year.
This shouldn’t be too surprising as both models are getting old as they were originally unveiled in 2019. While the CT5 recently received a facelift, the entry-level sedan has largely soldiered on.
Unfortunately, it looks like the CT4 is now going the way of the dodo. However, the CT5 will be getting a second-generation with an internal combustion engine.
The model will continue to be built at Lansing Grand River Assembly, which was originally slated to be transformed into an electric vehicle hub thanks to $500,000,000 from the Department of Energy. Interestingly, a recent report suggested the Trump Administration was looking to revoke that money.
Funding drama aside, Roth said the next-generation CT5 will be available in the United States and Canada. He added, “Cadillac is well positioned to adapt its portfolio to meet customer demand by offering the luxury of choice and this is the next proof point of that flexibility.”
We reached out to Cadillac for more information and a spokesperson told us, “As Cadillac evolves, we will continue to make necessary adjustments to our portfolio to meet customer demand. We are thrilled to confirm that the legacy of the CT5 will continue with a next-generation ICE vehicle, proudly manufactured at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant, of US and globally sourced parts.”
They added that more information about the new CT5 and its features “will be shared at a later date.”
