With temperatures soaring over recent days, many people are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the heat but, if you're struggling to cool your car down quickly, there's a handy tip you'll want to hear. According to the AA (Automobile Association), a simple button combination is the key to getting your vehicle cooled down in no time.
The advice was shared to help drivers cope during the sweltering conditions, and it's well worth bearing in mind as countless motorists have been desperately seeking guidance because of the weather. Previously, drivers have turned to Reddit for tips as they've struggled to manage travelling during heatwaves.
There are all manner of techniques they can try but, according to the AA, one method stands head and shoulders above the rest. This follows further guidance shared recently about keeping cars cool in the heat.
One social media user posted: "Keeping car cool? Hey folks, looking for all your tips and tricks for keeping a car as cool as possible in the warmer months. Thank you in advance."
The question quickly got people talking, with a whole host of suggestions put forward. The ideas were quite varied, too.
One person commented: "Park in the shade." Another chipped in: "I park in parking garages as much as possible. If they're not under shade, I always put up my window covers, even when I'm just running into the store.
"The van heats up fast with no airflow, especially under direct sunlight. I will often try to keep windows down at least a crack to let fresh air and cool air come in but, unless it's breezy, that isn't very reliable."
A third also suggested: "Park in the shade. Drink lots of cold liquids."
Yet, according to the AA, the secret to cooling your car down quickly could be as straightforward as pressing just two buttons. It may just be the fastest method to get the job done.
The guidance is simple enough to follow, too. You simply need to pay attention to a handy step-by-step breakdown to get the best out of it.
What does the AA say?
The AA outlines exactly what drivers need to do on its website, stating: "Here's our step-by-step guide to quickly cooling the inside of your car.
"Start by opening all the windows and doors for a minute or two to let the hot air escape. Once you start driving, close the windows and set the air conditioning to the 'recirculate' mode, which cools the air inside the car more efficiently.
"In a lot of cases if you set the climate control to LO or MAX A/C, the system will automatically select recirculate. If your car has a sunroof, open it slightly while driving to let hot air rise and escape, then close it after a few minutes.
"Set the air conditioning to the highest speed and the lowest temperature to maximise cooling and direct the air vents towards passengers to distribute the cool air evenly. If your car has rear air vents, make sure they are turned on and directed toward the back seats."
That's really all it takes to cool your car down swiftly. Simply open the windows first, then hit the air conditioning button for a far more comfortable journey behind the wheel.
