Instead of walnut, TechArt sourced wood from a tree that fell into a bog over a thousand years ago. This ancient bog wood, naturally preserved by its wet, oxygen-poor environment, is now the center piece of TechArt’s latest upgrade package called the Tsport R. Who knew your gear knob could have more history than ythe royal family?
But it doesn’t stop there. The Tsport R package is a four-tier affair, each level offering more of that Porsche passion and TechArt’s signature flair. Under the bonnet, the 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six gains a hefty boost to 498bhp and 390lb ft, up from the stock 389bhp and 331lb ft. Expect a new sports exhaust and a sweet rear spoiler with the base kit, enough to announce your presence loud and clear.
Step up through the tiers and you unlock indulgences like that ancient wooden gearknob along with carbon-fiber exterior pieces that scream “race ready.” The top trim has it all: roof spoiler, ducktail wing, front splitter, GT3-style bonnet nostrils, plus a trimmed interior sporting carbon fiber and Alcantara touches that make any enthusiast drool.
The fun isn’t confined to manual cars either. For the automatic-only 992.2 Carrera range, TechArt’s whipped up a new gear selector with the look and feel of a manual shifter. Sure, it’s a bit of an oddball move, but frankly, it’s a lot more appealing than the petite knob in the factory PDK models.
TechArt’s Tsport R package is available now, and honestly, if you’re clutching to the last bits of analogue driving pleasure, this techno-historical gem deserves a spot in your garage.
