Munro, founded in 2019, is carving out a unique niche with all-electric four by four vehicles built for serious off-road use. Unlike most electric SUVs targeting road users, Munro’s M Series trucks and SUVs focus on utility-heavy industries like mining, construction, forestry, and defense areas still reliant on gas guzzlers in many cases.

With £2 million recently secured in investment, Munro is gearing up to ramp production at its Glasgow plant, and has already amassed over £17 million in orders. The M Series features a rugged and boxy design made for durability and ease of repair, paired with a robust electric drivetrain that replaces traditional diesel engines without sacrificing capability.

Under the hood, Munro uses a single motor producing up to 280 kilowatts of power with full-time four wheel drive and locking differentials, proven tech adapted for an electric future. Its battery pack supports about 170 miles on road and 16 hours of off-road use, critical for work sites far from chargers.

Payload and towing are serious numbers here too: a 1,000 kilogram carrying capacity and 3,500 kilogram towing capacity position the M Series firmly in workhorse territory. The utility-focused interior is spartan, built for comfort and function rather than luxury.

Munro’s mantra is clear. This is not a lifestyle or weekend adventure vehicle it’s a tool for extreme environments and operators who need clean, cost-effective power while maintaining brutal reliability.

This Scottish startup is a fresh and practical voice in the EV world, pushing electric power into markets overlooked by most big manufacturers and proving that zero emissions can meet the needs of the hardest terrain.
