The leader of the Catholic Church has used many types of transport through the years, from buses to Kia Souls. The most recognized Popemobiles, however, are those produced by Mercedes-Benz. The current Mercedes Popemobile is a heavily modified M-Class with a bulletproof glass-surrounded platform.
Pope Francis also has a fleet of other vehicles to use, including a Mercedes G-Class Popemobile and Mercedes S-Class limousines. A Hyundai Santa Fe Popemobile was recently added to the Vatican fleet. The Holy Father has also been known to travel through the Vatican in an aging Ford Focus.
When the Pope visits foreign countries, he often uses Popemobiles created from cars produced in those countries. In the U.S., he has used a Jeep Wrangler, while in Korea, it was a modified Kia Sorento. He surprised many in the U.S. when he used a Fiat 500L on a recent visit.
