As the SUV craze was reaching its peak in the 1990s, automakers were experimenting with merging the vehicles with other body styles. They had mixed results.

One of the strangest was the 1996 Suzuki X90, which was part SUV, part two-door coupe, and part convertible with a T-top roof.

The X90 had a trunk like a car, though it was too small to be useful, and it came in two- and four-wheel-drive versions. The Red Bull energy drink company used a fleet of X90s with huge Red Bull cans strapped to the roof as promotional vehicles.

It was powered by a 95-horsepower engine and was built on a truck-like chassis, meaning it didn’t go fast or handle very well. It was killed after the 2007 model year.
