Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer has mentioned former host Edd China in reaction to a social media remark on X. Mike appeared to hit out at a viewer after they claimed Wheeler Dealers had not been the same since Edd China left the show.

Edd left Wheeler Dealers in March 2017 after 14 years working on the classic car restoration show. Mike posted a video on social media site X promoting the start of his new Wheeler Dealers World Tour series. However, a social media user posted online that the series was now “boring”, prompting a response from Mike.

The social media user commented: “Boring without ED.” (sic)

Mike responded to the comment hours later, suggesting the viewer should rewatch old programmes instead of enjoying the new ones.

Mike replied: “Well you can still watch the older shows with Edd (2 D’s by the way) on @discoveryplus meanwhile we will keep making great shows for you to miss.”

Edd was replaced on Wheeler Dealers by top mechanic Ant Anstead with ex-F1 mechanic Marc Priestley now Mike’s on-screen partner.

Edd claimed that he decided to walk away from the series due to creative differences with the show’s producers.

Mike has also downplayed rumours of a feud, previously explaining there was no big row between the pair.

Earlier this year, a social media user claimed Edd had been fired from the show, with Mike quickly hitting back.

He said: “He wasn’t.. listen to what said.. he left to pursue a career elsewhere .. you missed loads of good stuff since so bad luck!”

Fans of the show were quick to come to Mike’s defence with many making it clear they enjoyed the series with the new team.

X user @carsly said: “Keep on, keeping on mate. Ignore the haters.”

@Hugh6303 posted: “The change in mechanics is what keeps the show alive. Each have their own strengths and bring a certain slant to the show. I hope to be watching it in another 10 years.”

@damienpooley added: “Controversial opinion perhaps, but I think changing mechanics periodically has been really positive for the show - each one has brought a different perspective (and skill set), keeping it fresh without having to resort to silly gimmicks.”
