Jos Verstappen has claimed his first title in rallying by winning the 2025 Belgian Rally Championship.
The 53-year-old, father of four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, claimed third place at the East Belgian Rally and with it this year’s Belgian championship with a round to spare.
Co-driven by Renaud Jamoul, Verstappen dominated the season – winning the first four events in his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 to set himself up for the championship.
“We are really happy,” said Verstappen. “We wanted to secure the championship; that was the main goal today.
“You always try to be as prepared as possible and have the right people around you. Renaud is of course very important in all of this,” he added. “We enjoy working together and it’s great to fight at the front. The enjoyment is there, and the results follow. We are competitive, which also helps us enjoy ourselves.”
Verstappen topped the Belgian classification on four rallies and podiumed in East Belgium to seal the title
Although the former F1 racer claimed the Masters Cup in Belgium in 2024, this is his first overall title in rallying – four years after making the switch to the discipline in 2022.
He has also taken part in European Rally Championship events this season, but culled his campaign after Rally Poland.
