The most stolen vehicle in the UK has been revealed, with one of the most popular cars in the country topping the list, according to new data. DVLA statistics provided by research from WhatCar? found the Ford Fiesta was in first place, and the new most targeted car on UK roads.

According to the data, a whopping 3,511 Ford Fiesta cars were stolen in 2025, more than double that of the Volkswagen Golf, which finished in second with 1,625 models taken. The Fiesta was the UK’s top-selling new car for more than a decade, meaning volume alone meant there were plenty of models all over the country.

However, the Fiesta was discontinued by the American marque in 2023,, with WhatCar? Admitting the move has led to huge demand for used parts. Ford recorded the third most stolen car, with Focus owners also affected, as 1474 models went missing,

This was just higher than the Toyota RAV4 (1,319) and the BMW 3 Series (1,249). Unsurprisingly, many luxury cars made the list, with almost 900 Range Rover Evoque models taken from owners. However, data shows that common family runarounds such as the Ford Kuga and Kia Sportage were also affected.,

WhatCar? consumer editor Claire Evans explained: “Annual car theft figures continue to be very high, so owners need to do all they can to keep their vehicles safe.

“Our data shows that small, inexpensive models such as the Nissan Juke and Vauxhall Corsa are under threat, so it’s vital to take measures to protect all cars. Simple measures like a steering lock or keeping your keys in a Faraday pouch will lessen the chances of your car being stolen.”

According to WhatCar?, they were able to analyse DVLA data after submitting a Freedom of Information request. The information showed that Ford was also the most stolen car brand in the UK, with a total of 7,677 cars taken from owners in 2025.

This was again more than 2,000 units higher than the second most affected car brand, BMW, where 5,489 cars were taken off owners' hands.
