'Original Rebelle' Kendra Miller is back to take on the gruelling off-road race on its 10th anniversary

She’s back to do it all again.

The Rebelle Rally just wouldn’t be the same without DirtFish instructor Kendra Miller, who this year has teamed up with Emme Hall and Subaru USA for this epic, off-road adventure.

It’s an adventure she yet again just could not miss.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Rebelle Rally, and as an ‘Original Rebelle’ who competed in the first year back in 2016, I felt I couldn’t miss this milestone,” Kendra smiles.

“When I was invited to compete on behalf of Subaru USA, I couldn’t come up with any reasons to say no!”

Kendra teams up with Emme Hall and Subaru USA for this year's Rebelle Rally

The Rebelle Rally is the longest off-road navigational rally in the entire United States, with the entry reserved exclusively for women. Running from October 8-18, competitors spend eight days in the Nevada and California desert traversing 1600 miles without GPS, cell phones or computers.

“It’s incredibly empowering,” Kendra says. “It feels incredibly special to get to explore these areas in this way – witnessing the wildlife, history and absolute remote beauty.

“It is not a race for speed,” she confirms, “but a unique and demanding event based on the elements of headings, hidden checkpoints, time, and distance using maps, compass, and roadbook.”

And that’s not even the hardest bit.

“So much of it is unknown until 5am each morning of the competition,” Kendra continues. “You know there will be navigation, TSD, Dakar-style and time challenges but they could throw anything at you. You focus on your skills, knowing your vehicle, relationship with your team-mate and then trust that those things make you capable of tackling what’s ahead.”

Tricky terrain, breathtaking views and astounding accuracy typify the Rebelle Rally

Kendra’s “pumped” to be taking on this adventure with Emme and Subaru USA, competing in a Crosstrek. Why?

“I own a 2016 Crosstrek and get to play with STIs and BRZs at the [DirtFish Rally] School,” she smiles.

“It’s very exciting to have the support of Subaru USA. To know that they trust us to compete at a high level while making the car look good is such an honor. Emme and I are really looking forward to seeing how far we can push the Crosstrek in an event ruled by large SUVs, 4x4s and trucks.”

Kendra and Emme are about to embark on one of the most challenging yet special journeys in off-road motorsport – we wish them all the best.

“I’m super looking forward to shutting off my cell phone and having zero access to emails, social media, etc for nine days!” Kendra says.

“The goal is always to do my best and have fun – it’s definitely type 2 fun,” she laughs, “but totally worth it in the end.”
