That’s how – between a top-six on the final round of the 1985 world championship and a podium on the opening round of the 1986 British championship – Ian Grindrod found himself sitting alongside a 17-year-old Colin McRae in a Talbot Sunbeam Ti on a particularly snowy Snowman Rally in Scotland.
