The Porsche 911 Turbo S has long been the definitive example of what happens when everyday usability meets supercar performance—and this latest version takes that legacy to new extremes. The new Turbo S the second 992.2-generation model to adopt a hybrid powertrain, following the 911 GTS. But unlike the single-turbo GTS, the Turbo S’s T-Hybrid system has two e-turbos, and its output climbs by 61 horsepower compared with the previous model.

Under the rear deck sits a 3.6-liter flat-six engine equipped with two electrically assisted turbochargers. Each turbo has an integrated electric motor that eliminates lag by spinning the compressor instantly while also regenerating power for the 400-volt system. The engine alone produces 630 hp, but Porsche’s new T-Hybrid system integrates an electric motor into the eight-speed PDK gearbox, adding up to 80 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. Combined output exceeds 700 hp and 590 lb-ft, launching the car to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 200 mph.

Porsche invited several automotive journalists to the Ascari Race Resort in Spain to find out exactly what this new hybrid-assisted monster can do.
