Mercedes refreshed the Maybach S-Class with MB.OS, generative AI, illuminated trim, and absurd luxury touches

  • Maybach updates S-Class with more tech, lighting, and customization.
  • AI-driven MB.OS, floating wheel stars, and glowing trim push excess further.
  • Champagne flutes, comfort doors, and a fridge underline Maybach luxury.

Maybach just took everything that made the new Mercedes S-Class and dialed it up even higher. From the exterior, the changes might not be immediately obvious, but the details are truly over the top. This ultra-luxury sedan gets more technology, more personalization, and plenty of ways to differentiate it from its humble S-Class sibling.

Maybach calls this the most extensive update for the model ever. Outside, the changes lean heavily into visual drama rather than redesign. The grille is larger, the lighting signatures are more elaborate, and buyers can now spec illuminated badges, illuminated grille surrounds, and even a glowing hood ornament in some markets. The headlights and taillights also incorporate Maybach-specific three-pointed star detailing.

In case that wasn't enough, Maybach now offers forged wheels with a floating Mercedes star in the center cap. No matter how fast the wheel is moving, the star stays pointing up. Of all the logos that do not need this treatment, this would be it. Despite that, here we are. Speaking of wheels, some finishes can also be ordered in mirror-like chrome, in case the restraint had already packed up and left.

Cabin Tech And Lounge Experience

Inside, the goal is to make the Maybach feel less like a car and more like a private lounge. The Superscreen setup now runs Maybach-specific graphics, new wood trims, and ambient lighting themes have been added, and there's even a leather-free interior option using textile and synthetic materials for buyers who want a different take on luxury.

AI, supported by the latest MB.OS is a big feature in this car as well. The vehicle can accept natural speech input to leverage tools from Microsoft, Google, and other cloud services. The AI can suggest destinations based on habits, respond differently based on context, and even adjust climate control automatically based on behavior or voice tone. In many ways, this is a supercomputer that also happens to be a car.
