2021 New Volkswagen Polo

Motoring experts have revealed the best car for families in 2025, with popular models such as Skoda, Audi and Volvo not at the top. Instead, specialists at Carwow have claimed that the Volkswagen Polo is the best model for families, with the car praised for its spacious cabin, premium features, and technology.

Experts at Carwow claimed the car was “more comfortable” than its main rival, the Ford Fiesta. Meanwhile, the Polo was also celebrated for being “cheap to run”, making it ideal for those on a Budget.

Carwow said: “Despite its 'small car' tag, the Volkswagen Polo is actually very roomy. For passengers in the rear, leg- and headroom are about the same as what you would expect from the larger VW Golf, exceeding the spaciousness of such alternatives as the Vauxhall Corsa.”

Brand new Volkswagen Polo models are available for just over £20,000, but can be picked up from just over £200 per month under a finance deal. However, Carwow has claimed that second-hand Polo models are available for around £7,500.

The Volkswagen Polo has developed a cult following, with the model's 50-year history making it one of the brand’s most successful ranges. Inside, the Polo has a generous 351 litres of boot space when the rear seats are positioned up.

However, this can be extended to between 1,125 to 1,380 litres once the rear seats are completely folded down.

Carwow added: “The Polo’s cabin feels decidedly posh for a supermini, and this combined with the space on offer almost makes it an alternative to the Volkswagen Golf.”

Buyers can select from a range of performance options, covering everything from the entry-level 1.0 MPI engine to a turbocharged 2.0 TSI engine.

The lower-end models have a top speed of around 106mph and can reach 62mph from a standstill in around 15 seconds.

However, the top-end Polo GTI models are considered sporty, with owners able to reach 0-62mph in just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of up to 149mph.
