As temperatures gradually fall across the UK, it's the season for condensation and mould to emerge in our homes and vehicles.
Frequently, condensation occurs when warm, humid air cools by coming into contact with a colder surface.
This creates water vapour in the atmosphere which transforms into visible liquid water droplets and typically happens when chilly air retains less moisture than warmer air, generally as the weather begins to deteriorate.
It commences around autumn and continues until we witness the conclusion of winter, with windows frequently bearing the brunt of this issue. Now motorists will understand precisely how irritating condensation can prove.
Picture a frosty morning where you must not only de-ice the vehicle, but also wait for the windscreen to become clearly visible.
Fortunately, one gentleman on TikTok, recognised as @allukreviews, recently revealed a common error British drivers have been committing.
The user stated: "If your car looks like this in the morning, it's not just condensation, it's the first warning sign of a much bigger problem.
"So last winter, every morning I'd come down to my car covered in condensation. I'd spend ages wiping down the windows, freezing in the car waiting for them to clear."
However, while wiping typically provides a swift solution, it fails to address the issue with the moist air which remains confined within the vehicle.
The user continued: "That's what makes it smelly musty and even worse over time it can cause mould and actually damage the interior.
"I got so fed up last year that I went looking for a fix then I found these little bags and I honestly didn't think something this simple would work but after leaving one in overnight I came back the next morning and the windscreen was completely clear."
Speaking about the anti-condensation pouches available on Amazon for £7 at the time of writing, the motorist explained they contain special beads engineered to extract moisture from the atmosphere and trap it within.
The ingenious feature allows for repeated use as an indicator dot changes to pink when saturated - simply pop it in the microwave to refresh and deploy once more.
He added: "No wiping, no waiting just got straight into my car and drove," before concluding: "I've had the same pair since last year and they're still like new."
The particular product he referenced was the Summit SUM-90 Reusable Dehumidifier Bag priced at £7 on Amazon.
While currently available, motorists should act swiftly to secure theirs before fellow drivers claim the remaining stock.
