On Sunday, NASCAR Cup Series drivers raced at World Wide Technology Raceway. And, we saw contact between playoff drivers Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney.

With 6 laps to go, Kyle Larson was all over Ryan Blaney in a battle for the 5th position. Larson drove from the bottom lane to the top and clipped Blaney in the left rear.
Blaney went for a spin. And he wasn’t happy over the team radio.
The No. 12 team jumped on the radio, “Be smart.”
Blaney responded quickly, “I’m being smart. Tell me where I’m suppose to lineup!”
After the checkered flag, Ryan Blaney walked to the driver of the No. 5 to have a conversation on the pit lane.

“I just wanted to know what I did to deserve it,” Ryan Blaney told NBC Sports of his talk with Larson after the race.
“He just said that he made a mistake. That’s fine, you make mistakes. But, at the end of the day I still got turned.”
“He came from all the way at the bottom of the racetrack and hit me in the left rear. I know he most likely didn’t mean to do it. But, it happened anyway.”
“So, that’s just one I gotta remember. But, I was happy to bounce back.”

“I just told him I messed up,” Kyle Larson stated.
“I wasn’t meaning to obviously go in there and hit him. The lap before, I got in there and got inside of him, got to his door and got him tight to where I could race him down the front stretch.”
“I was trying to do that again. Just was a little bit further back into three than I was the lap before.”
“Just misjudged the point where I wasn’t going to get next to him and try to tuck in. I just clipped him.”
“All on me but it wasn’t intentional at all. I hope he understands that. I know I hurt his day, where he could have gained more points.”
“Outside of that, it was a great race for us.”
Next week, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Bristol Motor Speedway. 4 of the 16 playoff drivers will be eliminated after the checkered flag.
