Rowan Atkinson’s classic 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I, renowned for its starring role and comedic destruction in Netflix’s Man vs Bee, is officially hitting the auction block. The car, finished in the stunning Opalescent Gunmetal Grey, suffered on-screen damage including a shattered rear window, broken dashboard, and bodywork cut in pursuit of a pesky bee, all staged, yet iconic moments that contributed to the show’s charm.
This particular Jaguar E-Type was owned personally by Atkinson, the car was sympathetically restored after filming while preserving some of its inflicted on-screen scars. The actor notably requested that a section of the nearside rear quarter, cut out in the series, be rubber sealed instead of fully repaired a unique feature that attests to its authentic “Man vs Bee” celebrity.
Up for auction at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham on November 8, the car is being offered directly by Atkinson himself through Iconic Auctioneers.
The estimated is expected to be in the range of £400,000 to £600,000 (approximately $500,000 to $750,000). This valuation reflects its status as an early Series I Jaguar E-Type with celebrity provenance, screen-used condition, sympathetic restoration, and unique features.
This rare offering presents a unique chance for collectors to own a piece of automotive and entertainment history.
Whether a fan of the car, the comedy, or simply a collector, this E-Type represents a fascinating blend of classic British automotive elegance and modern pop culture. Interested buyers can expect spirited bidding for what is poised to become a truly legendary auction item.
