Rally Estonia winner Oliver Solberg has remained tight-lipped on his future beyond the end of this season – despite consistent speculation that he is the natural successor to Kalle Rovanperä at Toyota.
The 24-year-old Swede won Estonia on his debut aboard a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 and has recently lifted the WRC2 title at the wheel of a GR Yaris Rally2.
Asked about Rovanperä’s surprising departure and how that could impact on his own 2026 plans, Solberg said: “I think like everybody I was a little surprised at Kalle’s news, but we know he is a driver who has lots of ambitions in lots of areas of motorsport and I wish him all the best and, of course, we will be watching with interest.
“For me and Elliott, our primary objective for this year was to win our championship – which we have done, with the help of our Printsport team and brilliant partners. Now we are looking to perform to the best of our ability and to chase wins in the rest of the rallies. That is where our focus lies right now.”
Solberg will see out the 2025 season in a Printsport-run Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. What comes next remains unclear.
In a statement to DirtFish regarding next season’s driver line-up, Toyota said: “The TGR-WRT team is pleased to share that, for the upcoming season, we have been engaging in discussions with drivers in a very positive and constructive atmosphere.
“We are confident that these efforts will lead us to assemble a strong, balanced, and energetic team as we approach the start of the 2026 season.”
