For 2026, Chevrolet will have a new body in the NASCAR Cup Series. The ZL1 (Camaro) will not make a return.
The branding of the Chevy Camaro body was already replaced in the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2025 season. Its replacement has been labeled as the ZL1.
General Motors stopped production the Camaro with the 2024 model. The final car rolled off the assembly line back in 2023.
Now, they are bringing that change to NASCAR starting with the 2026 season. Very little information has been released on the new body shape or what it will be called.
However, NASCAR has now confirmed that the process is complete…
“That process has been completed,” NASCAR’s Elton Sawyer stated via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
“Started working with the folks over there at GM probably over a year or so ago. Conversation, then they started submitting the body parts.”
“Then they go to a wind tunnel test where all the OEMs are there and watch how that test unfolds at the wind tunnel. So, all the boxes have been checked.”
“Looking forward to seeing the new Chevrolet when we get to Daytona in 2026.”
