On Thursday, former NASCAR Cup Series winner Greg Biffle’s Cessna Citation II business jet crash landed at the Statesville Regional Airport. Seven died in the crash including Greg Biffle, his wife and two children.
The plane crashed roughly 10 minutes after takeoff from the same airport. A voice recorder has been recovered from the crash site and is currently being investigated in Washington, D.C.
Three people with pilot licences were on the aircraft. At this time, it remains unclear which one was flying the plane.

Mark Martin is also a former NASCAR Cup Series driver as well as a pilot. He retired from the sport following the 2013 season with 40 career race wins.
Like many NASCAR drivers, Martin also pilots a Citation aircraft and he’s disturbed by the crash…
On Monday, Mark Martin took to social media to share views on the crash:
“As a Citation pilot for 20 years and a product of around 75 days of @FlightSafetyInt training and over 3000 hours of flight time in the aircraft I have deep knowledge of these aircraft and performance,” Martin opened via social media.
“The more I learn about Biffle’s crash the more disturbing it is to me.”
Martin added, Every day I get sicker and sicker about this tragedy.”
