Lecuona made his Moto2 debut in 2016 before his first full season in 2017, taking two podiums in his tenure before moving to MotoGP full time for 2020 with Tech3 on a KTM. In 2021 he took a best finish of sixth in the premier class before moving to the SBK paddock in 2022 with Honda.

In 2023 he also did a number of injury replacement rides in MotoGP, for both the factory Honda team and the LCR squad.

In 2026, Lecuona moved to the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team in WorldSBK and is currently second overall in the standings. He took three second places in the recent Hungarian Round of WorldSBK at Balaton Park and now returns to the venue with MotoGP.
