The whispers are true: Lancia has confirmed it will produce a Rally2 car, named the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale.
Footage emerged last week of what appeared to be a Rally2 machine testing in France, which DirtFish understood to be a precursor to a car being homologated for 2026.
Now, Lancia has released a teaser video, shared some images (which you can view below) and released a short statement confirming the arrival of the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale.
Lancia’s statement said: “The new Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale makes its debut, bringing the legendary spirit of Lancia’s rally victories into today’s motorsport. And this is just the beginning.”
The final line is a major tease towards the future, with the World Rally Championship’s regulations changing in 2027.
Lancia hasn’t competed in the world championship as a fully-blown manufacturer since 1992, but did homologate an Ypsilon Rally4 HF for this season.
However it remains the most successful manufacturer in WRC history in terms of titles won, with 10 manufacturers’ titles to its name.
Toyota and Citroën both have eight, although Toyota is closing on a ninth title in 2025.
