If you’ve ever been first in line to dig through a box of new stock for that elusive Treasure Hunt model, we’ve got interesting news for you. Hot Wheels, everyone’s favorite 1:64-scale custom cars, has paired with Los Angeles artist Kenny Scharf to bring his “Karbombz!” project into miniature scale. Scharf has painted murals and cars all over the world with his vibrant, Pop Surrealist designs. The Hot Wheels aficionado has selected a 1967 Ford Thunderbird, one of the original 16 castings that launched with the brand in 1968, to be the recipient of his artistic expression. Scharf painted a real, full-scale Thunderbird, and that design was translated into a Hot Wheels die-cast.

The full-size Thunderbird was built by Kenny Pfitzer at Pfitzer Designs in Corona, California, and rides on American Racing 500 Mono Cast wheels mounted with BF Goodrich Silvertown Redline radials. You can see the full-scale version at future Hot Wheels Legends events, as it will be inducted into the Hot Wheels’ Garage of Legends.

The Hot Wheels x Kenny Scharf Custom T-Bird retails for $35 and will be available soon. They launch at Mattel Creations at 9:00am Pacific Time on June 9. Also coming soon is a run of 100 examples that will be adorned with Scharf’s signature along with a custom base featuring more of his art. Those limited editions will retail for $300.
