Brothers hope to return for Türkiye finale of turbulent WRX season

Hansen Motorsport will miss next week’s World RX round in Finland – the first time the Swedish squad has been absent from a round of the series since its inception in 2014.
A team statement identified ‘ongoing issues with a major partner’ as the reason brothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen wouldn’t be competing at KymiRing – but added that it hoped to return for the season finale in Turkey next month.
Hansen World RX team principal Kenneth Hansen said: “It is with regret that we as a team must make this announcement today.
“We have done everything within our power to get both cars back on track in Finland, however we have simply run out of time to make this possible. It will be difficult, but we will do everything we can to race later in the season.
“On behalf of the whole family, I’d like to thank our sponsors and fans for their continued support. This gives us the drive to carry on and look forward to a successful 2026 season.”
Elder sibling Timmy is currently best placed of the brothers in this year’s WRX standings. While neither has registered a win in what’s been a turbulent season, the 2019 champion lies third in the points after the opening three rounds, 17 down on seven-time champion Johan Kristoffersson, having finished on the podium at every event.
Younger brother Kevin has had a tougher time aboard the sister Peugeot 208 RX1e. He has yet to make the podium this season and failed to qualify for the final in Hungary last month. He is currently sixth in the standings, 33 points off the pace.
