The Hot Rod Power Tour is the world’s largest traveling car show, with thousands of participants creating a parade of muscle cars, pony cars, and classics as they make their way from one venue to the next. For many Power Tour participants, the drive is the highlight of the event. Once they get to the destination, it’s time to take in the sights and see what kind of rare or unique vehicles have shown up in addition to the usual Long Haulers. For others, the Power Tour’s destinations offers a chance to truly let their project car or daily-driver shine.
On this year’s Power Tour, three of the five venues offered drag racing, and participants could line up for as many passes as they’d like. The dragstrip was popular at Indy, Joliet, and the final stop in Norwalk, Ohio, where rain interrupted things for a bit. We saw some first-time racers who needed a bit of help from the track officials to get staged properly, as well as some speedy late-model performance cars that ran 12- and 13-second passes. There were a few surprises, however, as we spotted a couple of 7-second cars as well as a couple of sleepers, including a well-tuned GTI that held its own against powerful V-8 muscle. Here are a few of our favorite cars and matchups from all three venues. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing you and your car at Power Tour 2026!
