After bringing the world to America’s Pacific Northwest for four successive DirtFish Women in Motorsport Summits, Josie Rimmer will take the word to the world, starting in Ireland on Friday.
DirtFish’s Women in Motorsport coordinator will speak at this weekend’s Motorsport Ireland Women in Motorsport Event to further broaden understanding of a subject which couldn’t sit closer to her heart.
Josie will join leading Irish rally star Aoife Raftery and Aston Martin F1 engineer Sósanna Ni Dhubháin on the panel at the Athlone Springs Hotel in County Roscommon.
Josie said: “It’s an absolute privilege to be invited over to Ireland for the event – I would like to thank Noelle [Horan] for that. To come to a country and community which has such a love for rallying and motorsport is amazing and to have the opportunity to talk about empowering and facilitating more and more women into this space is perfect.
“The Summit has grown so quickly. We were just starting out on this road four years ago and to be invited to share those values overseas – it’s incredible and so powerful.
“We have always been aligned with Motorsport Ireland’s Women in Motorsport Initiative, I can’t wait to experience the powerful space that Noelle and Rosemary Walsh have created here, to meet everybody and to share our passion and vision for women in motorsport.”
Aoife Raftery and Josie Rimmer will sample Craig Breen's 2015 Circuit of Ireland winning Peugeot 208 T16
Beyond Friday night’s event, Rimmer will join Raftery for Saturday’s Déjà vu Waterford ’25 – a 160-mile touring event run in the memory of Irish rally legends Craig Breen and Frank Meagher. Aoife and Josie will crew the Peugeot 208 T16 Breen used to win three rounds of the 2015 European Rally Championship.
Josie said: “Can you imagine getting a call like that from Aoife, to ask if I would like to sit in that car? What an incredible privilege and a genuine honor. Both Craig and Frank were huge names in the world of rallying, but here in Ireland they’re absolute legends of the sport.
“Being here and having this chance to ride with Aoife in one of Craig’s cars is something else, something I’m truly, truly thankful for and I’m going to enjoy every moment.”
