In 2020, Sweden’s Cyan Racing unexpectedly turned the Volvo P1800 into a resto-modded, track-ready coupe with 400-plus horsepower and a supercar-like price tag. Production continues today, and the latest Cyan Racing P1800 GT illustrates a more comfort-oriented way to bring the P1800 into the 21st century.

The coupe you see here was configured by a customer, and it inaugurates several features that take the resto-modded P1800 in a more road-friendly direction. The GT notably rides on newly-designed 17-inch center-locking wheels reminiscent of the Minilite alloys that are often seen on the P1800, and it’s painted in an attractive and relatively subtle shade of beige metallic.

“Subtle” is a relative term, however, and it doesn’t take a well-trained eye to tell that this isn’t a standard P1800. It’s wider than the stock model, and the cool, Le Mans-inspired fuel filler cap is a dead giveaway.

Inside, the P1800 GT features period-correct details such as brown leather upholstery, cloth upholstery on the door panels, an old-school-looking Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and analog gauges. There are numerous new and updated parts, including the pedals and the speakers, but it’s not a festival of screens.

Cyan knows a thing or two about building a fast, fun-to-drive car: It used to build race cars for Polestar. Power comes from a World Touring Car-derived 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s turbocharged to 420 horsepower. It exhales through a new exhaust system with twin tips, which contributes to the more low-key look, and it spins the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The coupe tips the scale at roughly 2,200 pounds thanks to numerous carbon fiber parts, including the body and the driveshaft.

This P1800 GT is already sold; It’s the first example delivered in its home country of Sweden. If you want one, it’s not too late. Cyan Racing is still taking orders from buyers all around the world, but keep in mind that each car takes between 12 and 15 months to build. Pricing consequently starts in the vicinity of $500,000 before options are factored in, and buyers have a long list to choose from because, as the latest GT build shows, nearly every part of the car is customizable. How would you configure yours?
