► Project V concept teased
► Looks like something other than a Seven
► To be revealed in just over a month
Caterham is poised to reveal an all-new concept car, and it looks set to be unlike anything we’ve previously seen from the brand. Called Project V, the concept will be revealed in full in just over a month – but we do have a name, some teasers and a few details to mull over in the meantime.
It’s not just a radical new look that this car will preview; the Caterham Project V will have an electric powertrain, too. Sounds like a significant moment in the long history of Caterham, as the brand prepares for a future without combustion engines.
Caterham has revealed a new picture of its forthcoming electric sports car, and it looks to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the company. There’s a fully-enclosed cockpit for a start, and modern lights that look nothing like the Seven the brand is usually known for.
Combine that with the previous teaser, which shows a fully-surfaced sports car shape with a hard top, flowing wheelarches and the hint of a rear spoiler of sorts – and this is something very new indeed.
In May 2023, Caterham announced the appointment of Anthony Jannarelly as chief designer, and the company has confirmed this new concept represents the first fruits of his new role. What’s more, Caterham has also confirmed Italdesign will be tasked with building the show car.
Caterham is well aware that this project offers something very different to what’s come before, but it maintains that the Project V will still stay true to the brand’s key values. The press release states that while this new concept may be a visual departure from the existing Seven range; ‘Caterham remains committed to its core values of lightness, simplicity and a driver focused experience.’
The car will be unveiled in full on 12 July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and customers can sign up on the brand’s website for further information:
Very little. The Project V concept follows hot on the heels of the EV Seven, a car which looked towards an electrified future for the brand.
