With a new year comes a wave of new vehicles - and 2026 will be no different.

In fact, it looks busier than ever with launches nearly every week, if not every month.

And as we get ever closer to the 2030 ban on full petrol and diesel cars (hybrids are excluded until 2035), the number of new electric vehicles going into showrooms continues to grow.

So, for drivers shopping for a new set of wheels, you'll find the choice is predominately electric - in fact it's almost entirely electric for 2026.

However, the good news is that prices for new EVs are coming down, and this is very much the case with the 26 new motors we've rounded up in this A-Z.

If you're as overwhelmed as we are by the idea of 26 new cars (we could easily have selected even more) releasing in a single year, don't worry because we've split the big list of 26 into two parts. This is part one, with part two following tomorrow.

So here are 13 cars that you'll should have on your radar in 2026...

21 January teaser: In 2026 Volvo will reveal what its EX60 new electric SUV will look like but for now all we've got is this hint

Estimated price: Around £60,000

The Swedish car maker is back at it with electric SUVs, and this time its the EX60 - the most efficient EV the brand's ever made.

A rival to the BMW iX3 it's set to have a longer range than the just launched ES90 which can do 434 miles on a single charge.

Full reveal and first looks come on 21 January.

The BMW iX3 is part of the German manufacturer's Neue Klasse of electric cars and will have a range of over 500 miles

Estimated price: £59,000 and above

We've just mentioned it as a rival to the Volvo EX60, but more importantly the iX3 is the first of BMW's new class (Neue Klasse) of electric cars.

It'll come with a range of 500 miles and a four-'superbrain' computer system that can process information 10 times faster than previous BMW systems.

The Ioniq 6 N will cover 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 161mph when the performance EV arrives next year

Estimated price: £65,000-£70,000

A performance saloon, the 6 N is all about having fun in an saloon EV.

The Ioniq 6 N will cover 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 161mph - and like the 5 N will have that covertable 'Drift Mode' for hitting the track.

After seven previous generations as a combustion model the Lexus ES is going electric in 2026

Estimated price: TBC

The ES is going electric in 2026, after seven previous generations as a combustion model.

And that's not all that's different; the ES is going to be significantly bigger than before before and will be a competitor to the Mercedes EQE and BMW i5 executive saloons.

Mercedes' best-selling SUV will have a range of 443 miles and will feature a gigantic 39-inch 'Hyperscreen' when it turns into an EV next year

Price: From £61,100

The GLC is another car that's going electric for the first time in 2026.

Mercedes' best-selling SUV will have a range of 443 miles and will feature a gigantic 39-inch 'Hyperscreen'.

The grille will become a light show and the panoramic roof will come with smart glass with nine transparency settings - it's all very starry.

Range Rover has promised its Electric model will be 'the most capable electric luxury SUV' it offers

6. Range Rover Electric

Estimated price: £130,000 - £170,000 plus

Perhaps the most long-awaited and long wished for EV, the Range Rover Electric will finally arrive next year.

It looks near identical to the petrol and diesel Range Rovers and the inside is just as exquisite - even down to the small details like the 'gear' selector which is the same as the ICE version.

We have very little figures to go on but the target range is over 300 miles.

Estimated price: TBC

Range Rover isn't hanging around in 2026, bringing an electric version of its slightly more affordable Velar replacement SUV to market as well as the Range Rover Electric and the Range Rover Electric Sport.

Expect the mid-size EV to have had a lot of cosmetic surgery if it is a Velar spin off.

It'll also be the first car to use Land Rover's new EMA platform designed for EVs.

We don't have an image for this model yet but as soon as we do you'll be the first to know.

The Skoda Epiq will be a entry-level cheap EV costing under £25,000 and will manage over 260 miles on a single charge

Estimated price: Under £25,000

From a very luxury SUV to a not so luxury SUV: Skoda is launching its entry-level electric car next year, the Epiq.

It's estimated to cost from just under £25,000 but will be nice and practical with a 264-mile range and a 475-litre boot.

Estimated price: TBC

Smart no longer makes tiny cars. The #6 is a plug-in hybrid saloon that's around the same size as a Tesla Model 3 and is the biggest car the German marque has ever made.

It's the marque's first ever saloon model. An electric model will follow after.

Estimated price: TBC

Keeping its bigger sibling company next year will be the new Smart #2.

A more retro offering, this two-door city car takes over from the Smart ForTwo EQ and will be more than just a city EV. It'll also nab technology from Geely so expect to be very well connected.

The VW ID Polo will start from £22,000 and will have a range of 280 miles - the first small electric car from the group

Estimated price: From £22,000

It was only a matter of time before the Polo went electric and when it does in 2026 it will be based on the ID 2all concept that's been doing the rounds.

There will be two battery options available, with up to 280 miles of range and a GTI variant in the future.

The Polo will be the first VW Group EV to use its bespoke platform for small electric cars.

Nissan Leaf deliveries will be arriving on buyer driveways next year. The new Leaf is a completely overhauled third generation of the original mass-market EV

Price: from £32,249 (with ECG £3,750 discount)

We test drove it only a couple of months ago, and very soon it will be arriving on buyers' driveways.

The third generation Leaf is nothing like the old generation: it's bigger, it looks entirely different, it's got far more range - up to 375 miles - and the tech is all-new.

It also qualifies for the Government's full Electric Car Grant of £3,750 because it's sustainably made; both batteries and EV are being produced at Sunderland.

New Juke: A shadowy studio image hints at a sportier, more angular coupe-style silhouette design for the new Juke EV coming in 2026

Estimated price: Under £30,000

Nissan is doing its best to made up for lost time in the EV arena buy bringing out three models in a year.

The Juke EV SUV is the last to arrive, after the Micra and Leaf, but will share the same tech as the Leaf and will come with 375 miles of range.

It'll look a lot different to the rather dated looking current model too.
