Audi has completed what it calls a "successful" first shakedown of its 2026 Formula 1 car, the R26.

Audi is the first team to debut its new car and engine on track, drawing great attention on social media throughout Friday as spy imagery and videos of the shakedown - some with questionable authenticity.

Audi hasn't released any official imagery yet, but did acknowledge it had completed the filming day with both its 2026 race drivers at the wheel, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.

"The filming day was an opportunity to check the full functionality of the car ahead of the start of the season," said a statement from Audi issued to The Race.

"The team's focus for the day was not on car handling or performance, as those will be the scope for pre-season testing, starting in Barcelona at the end of the month."

Audi and the other 10 teams will test together at the same circuit on January 26-30, ahead of two further tests in Bahrain.

Audi is set to launch its car during an event in Berlin on January 20.
