Celebrating Aston Martin’s 100th race in FIA WEC, the Valkyrie was the only ‘Hypercar’ to race both IMSA and FIA World Endurance Championship this season—taking its Le Mans pedigree and putting it to the ultimate test on two continents. Sørensen qualified third after leading free practice, and together with Riberas, overcame drive-through penalties and waved-off runs, surging back through the field with relentless pace. A series of full course yellow periods mixed up the running order, but the team fought hard from fifth to fourth and, after a late tyre stop, crossed the line sixth—showing podium pace all weekend.
THOR Team principal Ian James summed up the progress: "Back in Qatar, this would have felt like a dream result. Now finishing sixth feels bittersweet—we’re hungry for the podium and more competitive than ever. We'll keep pushing."
For the first time, Aston drivers picked up world championship points in the WEC’s top class. Sørensen and Riberas scored after their strong showing in Fuji, adding to their two points from Le Mans earlier in the season.
Valkyrie stands as the first Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) in Aston Martin’s history, derived directly from the road car but built for the track. The 6.5-litre V12 revs to 11,000rpm, delivers regulated 500kw (680bhp), and howls with pure racing spirit. Global attention now turns to the season-ending round in Bahrain on 8 November.
