BMW’s M division is currently testing a selection of performance parts for the M2, described as “a street-legal track-day package.”
A camouflaged car wearing the upgrades has been teased on Instagram. BMW says that its test drivers have been lapping the Nürburgring to ensure the new components “deliver pure performance.”

Most obvious from the images is a high rear wing, that looks like it’s been lifted straight from a touring car, and a deeper spoiler at the front. The front and rear of the car previewed are pretty heavily disguised, so there could be better cooling or aero tweaks hidden as well. We also spot a new multi-spoke alloy wheel design, fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires. Think of these as cut slicks, about as close to full racing rubber as you can still use legally on the road.
It’s hard to see whether the rotors behind the wheels are bigger, but beefier brakes would certainly be a worthy addition to any track pack. The three-liter TwinPower Turbo straight-six in the M2 already puts out 473 hp, so with some extra boost 500 horses seems quite plausible. That said, BMW M hasn’t revealed any information, so we’re just being hopeful here.
Since the first BMW M2 made its debut in 2016, it’s always been a popular track-day tool, thanks to its compact size, mighty performance, and deft handling. It’s also one of the few remaining cars in the BMW catalog that can be specified with a manual transmission.
As anyone who’s ever taken part in a track day knows all too well, not every driver taking their car on circuit necessarily has all the skills required to keep it there, so a new bright red front tow loop should make it easy to pull the M2 out of the kitty litter.
No prices have yet been announced, and BMW says the M Performance Parts will become available in 2026.
That rear spoiler is ugly. Then again the car is not a beauty queen so it fits I guess.
